Man duped of Rs 2,000 tells cops he was duped of Rs 2 lakh

Police is mulling action against a man, who complained that he was duped of Rs 2 lakh by two persons and given a piece of glass instead of an iPhone, but was actually duped of only Rs 2,000.

In a bid to ensure prompt action, Nitin Sisodia inflated the amount he was robbed off from Rs 2,000 to 2 lakh, and complained to the police that two boys gave him a piece of glass in the shape of an iPhone covered in a leather pouch and escaped with his bag containing Rs 2 lakh cash after hypnotising him at BRT Corridor, near Moolchand Flyover on Saturday.
 

The accused Muzib Malik was arrested in a joint operation by Defence Colony police station and STF South District and and two pieces of glasses in the shape of Apple iPhone were recovered from his possession, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal said.

The motorcycle used in the commission of crime was also recovered at the instance of the complainant, police said.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused had actually duped the complainant of Rs 2,000 and the incident had occurred near Jangpura Metro Station. Further probe is on to arrest Muzib's accomplice Shakeel, police said.
