Man duped of Rs. 34 lakh

A businessman here has alleged that he

was duped of Rs. 34 lakhs by a person here on the pretext of starting a new business venture, police said today.

The police said the accused, identified as Ajay of Adhapura village in UP, had established contact with Dinesh Kumar of Bahadurgarh village in Haryana four months ago and lured him into investing Rs. 34 lakh in iron business.

The complainant said he had handed Rs. 34 lakh to Ajay. But he asked him to return the money when the latter failed to invest it. However, the accused abused him and threatened that he would be killed.
 

Based on a complaint from Dinesh Kumar, an FIR was registered against Ajay and four others yesterday under IPC sections 406 and 420, and a probe is on, Jamil Mohammad Rawat, Station Officer Kotwali Pilua said.
