A woman was killed by a man-eating tigress at a jungle near Corbett Tiger National Park here while she was collecting grass, forest officials said today.
The victim, Anandhi was cutting and collecting grass in the jungle last evening when the tigress attacked her, forest officials said, adding some other women were also working near the area where the victim was attacked.
As per reports a tigress had strayed into human settlements in Moradabad division and killed six persons in past few days, prompting forest officials to initiate process to declare it a man-eater and hunt it down.
However the forest officials said that it was not clear whether the same tigress had attacked six people earlier at the same area.
