A youth was electrocuted after he came in contact with a live high tension wire at an agricultural field in Jaajalpur village here.

Mukesh Kumar, 35, was electrocuted yesterday when he came in contact with the high tension line while working in the field, police said today.

In his complaint to the police, Ram Sewak Mishra, the victim's father, said locals had made repeated complaints to the electricity department about the wire hanging dangerously close to the ground but no action was taken.

Mishra alleged that it was due to the "callous attitude" of Sub-Divisional Officer (Hydel) Pawan Kumar and Junion Engineer Man Mohan Singh that the incident took place.

On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been registered in this connection against the officials under relevant sections of the IPC, Station Officer of Aliganj police station, Indresh Kumar Bhadoria said.

An investigation is on in the matter, the SO added.
