A 22-year-old man, who was arrested under NDPS Act, today managed to escape the police custody when he was being taken to the local court here.

The accused, Joginder Singh, was being taken to the local court when he managed to free himself from the handcuff and ran away, police said.

"He managed to free himself from the handcuff as his hands were thin," Barnala DSP Surinder Kumar said.

Police, however, said that he was captured after half an hour.

Joginder Singh was arrested yesterday for allegedly possessing banned drugs and booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, police said.
