Man externed under Goonda Act arrested in UP

A man, who was externed from the district under the Goonda Act, was arrested for entering the Miranpur town here, police said today.

Vinay Pradhan, who entered the district to campaign for his wife, a BSP candidate for the upcoming local body election, was arrested yesterday, SHO Arvind Kumar said.

Pradhan was externed under the Goonda Act for six months by the district authorities on August 28, Kumar said.

The Uttar Pradesh Control of Goonda Act, 1970, among other provisions, allows a person, defined as a goonda in the act, to be externed by the district magistrate for a specified period of time.
