Man falls from hospital stairs, dies

A man today died after falling from the third floor stairs of a hospital in Vasant Kunj, where he was admitted for undergoing certain tests, police said.

Fifty-one-year old Raj Kumar Thakkar, resident of Rohini, was admitted to Institute of Liver and Billiary Sciences (ILBS) yesterday. Last year, he had undergone a liver transplant at the hospital.

He was reportedly going for a stroll when the mishap occured. A call was received that a person had died after falling from the third floor stairs of the hospital at around 9 am, a senior police officer said, adding that the exact cause of the death was not clear.
 

"We are investigating the death from all angles to determine its cause. Although no complaint has been given by the family members who are in deep shock, we are covering all possibilities," said the officer.

The body of Raj Kumar was sent for post mortem examination and further investigation is on, he added.

When contacted, the hospital authorities did not comment on the issue.

Thakkar who ran a building material business, is survived by his wife, a married daughter and a son.
