A man died in a rush at a theatre in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh where the latest film of Telugu film star Ram Charan Tej was released today.

The film 'Govindudu Andarivadele' was today released.

The incident occurred in Yemmiganur town this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Kannaiah (22).

According to the police, Kannaiah fell down while making his way into the theatre. There was a great rush as viewers of the previous show were coming out, said sub-inspector Imtiyaz Basha.

He was taken to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Asked if there was a stampede, the officer said, "As of now we cannot say if there was a stampede, though there was a heavy rush. No one else was injured."

Kannaiah had some health issues. But it was not clear whether that caused him to suffocate, and autopsy would throw more light on the exact cause of death, the officer said.

Kannaiah was to get married in a few days.

Meanwhile, Ram Charan announced an assistance of Rs two lakh for Kannaiah's family, the police officer said.
