A PIL has been filed before the Madras High Court seeking to direct authorities to take action against owners of animals without valid licenses, who allow them to stray in the streets, posing danger to general public.
K Chandra Sekaran, in his PIL submitted said that his wife was butted by a cow straying in the street, following which he complained to Chennai Corporation authorities and action was taken only for two days.
However, he alleged that no follow up action was taken and animals without licenses continue to stray on the roads and pose danger to the general public and vehicle movement.

The First Bench, comprising, Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar ordered issuing of notice to Chennai Corporation officials, returnable in two weeks.
