A mentally-challenged man, who was recently rescued after being found chained up at his residence in a village of neighbouring Mahisagar district, has been shifted to a government-run hospital here.
Ramabhai Nanabhai Damor (35), who was chained to a pillar at his house in Dadavanta village for last several years, was rescued by police on June 30.
Damor was admitted to the psychiatric ward of the Gujarat Government-run Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital late last night for medical treatment.

Speaking to PTI, Dr Deveshwar Pandey, SSG Hospital Superintendent, said, "Damor is physically very weak. He is finding it difficult to move or walk. He is not speaking much except uttering the word "maa" (mother)."
Usha Rada, Superintendent of Police, Mahisagar district, said, "We shifted him to SSG Hospital after taking permission from a local court."
Before being shifted to SSG Hospital, Damor was admitted to a hospital in Bakrol town after his rescue.
Damor became mentally disturbed apparently after he was bitten by a snake about 15 years ago at a forest. After the snake bite incident, he ran away from home on several occasions because of which his mother, a farm labourer, kept him tied with a chain to a pillar at home.
No case has been registered against Damor's mother as she had no bad intention for chaining him but had done so to prevent him from running away from home.
