A 28-year-old man was found dead near railway track in Kavinagar area today, police said.
The man, identified as Sonu, bore several injury marks on his body which indicate assault on him before his death, they said.
Sonu, a father of one child, lived with his family in Muradnagar area. According to police, he was involved in an extramarital affair with a girl who lives in Kavinagar and often used to meet her.
"As per preliminary investigation, Sonu along with his friend Ravi had gone to meet the girl yesterday on a bike. When they reached B Block of Shastrinagar area, they were stopped by some youths who started thrashing Sonu.
"Ravi managed to escape with bike and informed Sonu's parents about the incident. However, when they rushed to the spot, he was not there. In the morning, Sonu's was found dead on railway track near Rajapur Railway Crossing," said a senior police officer.
