A 29-year-old man has been arrested here for allegedly being in possession of 10kg of opium worth Rs 1 crore, police said.

According to police, a tip-off was received by Crime Branch yesterday that a man would come to the bus stand in New Multan Nagar near Paschim Vihar (West) Metro Station to deliver drugs.

"A raid was conducted and the drug trafficker was apprehended. He was identified as Vinod Meghwal, a resident of Pratapgarh, Rajasthan.

"Ten kilograms of opium was recovered from his possession. A case under appropriate sections of the NDPS Act has been registered in the matter," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ashok Chand.
