A fast track court here today sentenced a 27-year-old man to 10 years in prison for abducting and raping a 21-year-old girl.

Additional District Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar Mishra also imposed a fine of Rs 1,70,000 on Satish Kumar after holding him guilty under sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc) and 376 (punishment for rape) of IPC.

According to the prosecution, the girl was abducted and taken to Haridwar where she was allegedly raped by Satish with the help of two relatives - Naresh and his wife Shrimati Rajesh - at Badh Village on August 21, 2011.

Later, the victim was rescued by the police from Satish's possession after 12 days.

The court acquitted Naresh and Rajesh due to lack of evidence.
