A court in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district today sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for possessing cannabis and selling it to the vulnerable sections of society.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua M A Choudhary awarded the jail term to Sudagar Mal of Hiranagar and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
Mal was charged with possession of 1 kg cannabis for commercial use to be sold among the vulnerable section of the society, a police spokesman said.
He was arrested on September 8, 2016, from New Ravi Bridge Lakhanpur, following which a case was registered at the Lakhanpur police station, he said.
