A local court has sentenced a man to six years rigorous imprisonment in a case of sexual harassment of a minor girl in 2014.

District and Session Court Judge Urmila Phalke Joshi yesterday awarded six-year jail term to Suresh Jadhav, 50, a resident of Kalwan tehsil here, and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him for sexually harassing and abducting the six-year-old girl.

According to prosecution, Jadhav had lured the victim by promising her to get new clothes and then took her to different places of Kalwan on December 11, 2014 and sexually harassed her for two days.

The victim's parents then lodged a missing complaint with Kalwan Police Station after which the accused was arrested.

The court examined five witnesses, including the victim.
