A local court has convicted a film artist for the murder of a Mumbai-based model at a city hotel in July 2009.
The sessions court sentenced Jangam Rajeshwaraiah alias Raju to life imprisonment yesterday.
Raju had been charged with murdering the victim, a small-time TV artist and model from Mumbai who also worked as a call-girl, at a hotel in Ramgoplapet here on July 25, 2009 after she rejected his sexual advances.

She had been called to the city to attend to some customers, and Raju, a junior artist in the Telugu film industry, had escorted her twice to her customers.
According to police he tried to woo her, but she did not respond. In the early hours of July 25, 2009, he tried to molest her inside her hotel room, and as she resisted and tried to raise alarm, he strangulated her.
After killing her, he took Rs 7,000 in cash and a cell phone from the room and fled. Police arrested him four days later.
Prosecution examined 15 witnesses during the trial. Two co-accused, who acted as victim's agents, were acquitted by the court.
