Principal District and Session Judge Shopian Raja Shujat Ali Khan yesterday sentenced Mohammad Ishfaq Paul to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of kidnapping and murdering Nazir Ahmad Kumar.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict.
Paul's associate Tariq Ahmad Sheikh was awarded rigorous imprisonment of five years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
The judge directed that 50 per cent of the fine amount shall be paid to the parents of the deceased.
