A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to six months rigorous imprisonment by a Thane district court for duping youths of their money by promising them lucrative jobs in Dubai 13 years back.
Thane First Class Judicial Magistrate Ms S A R Sayed recently awarded the prison term to Vartak Nagar resident Vincent David George along with a fine of Rs 2,000.
The other accused in the case, Amit Rajkumar Peter, is still absconding and the court has asked the police to file a separate charge sheet once he is traced.

However, the youths never got the jobs and their money was also not returned.
The duo used to call the youths to a specific spot with their luggage to go to Dubai.
When the job aspirants arrived at the specified time and date, the accused told them that the flight was cancelled and that they would inform them about the revised schedule later on, which they never did, the prosecution had told the court.
The victims had said that they had gone to the house of the accused persons and made payments to go to Dubai for job.
The two were charged under section 420 (cheating) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
