The sessions court sentenced Vinayak Gawde to seven years' imprisonment for abduction, and ten years' jail for rape.

Gawde abducted the girl, who was his neighbour, in 2009 from a college in suburban Malad with the help of three others and took her to Ratnagiri where he raped her.

On July 3, 2009, he snatched her mobile phone, and when the victim chased him to get it back, she was pushed into a waiting car, police said.

He raped her after taking her to Ratnagiri, and then promised to marry her. On the next day, the victim managed to escape and went to the local police, who arrested Gawde.

However, the three accomplices are still to be nabbed.
