A special POCSO court on Friday awarded capital punishment to a person for raping and killing a six-year-old girl in old city area here after an expeditious trial that took just a little over four months.
Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Special judge Arvind Mishra said the manner in which the crime was committed proved that the case fell into the "rarest of rare" category, hence, the convict deserved no less than capital punishment.
The incident took place on September 15, 2019.
The convict Bablu alias Arfatwas said to be uncle of the victim.
The girl's body was recovered from under the bed of the convict in his house.
Serious injuries were found on private parts of the girl in the postmortem.
