Man held at Amritsar airport with a dozen gold biscuits

CISF sleuths have apprehended an air passenger for allegedly smuggling a dozen gold biscuits from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi to Amritsar.

Officials said the traveller, identified as Mohammed Matim, was intercepted by secuirty personnel at Amritsar airport yesterday when he arrived from Delhi allegedly concealing 12 gold biscuits in his shoes.

"The 1.3kg gold was handed over to the passenger by an Afghan national inside the security area at IGIA after he arrived from Dubai. Based on their suspicious activities inside Delhi airport, Matim was intercepted at Amritsar," a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer said.

Matim was handed over to Customs officers at Amritsar airport for further action.
