A 49-year-old resident of Vasai in the district was arrested today for splurging acid on his estranged wife who is in serious condition, police said.
"The incident took place in the wee hours today when Ajay Raut, a habitual drinker, went to the house of his in-laws where his wife, identified as Aarti, is staying after leaving him and flung acid on her," said inspector Nandkishore Bhosle-Patil of Vasai police station.
The accused has been arrested under sections 326A and 498 of IPC.
