Police found differences in the statements of Jagmohan and Ajay's widow, Pinki Sharma, hence an SIT led by DIG was constituted on December 5 to probe the matter.
While the IG didn't divulge what Pinki told the police, he said that according to Jagmohan, blast happened after "some motorcycle-borne persons threw an envelope in the car".
During the interrogation Hardeep allegedly told police he and Jagmohan are "good and old friends", the IG said.
According to Hardeep, Jagmohan had on November 27 given him a tiffin, he said.
On December 4, Jagmohan took back one of the tiffin boxes when he was returning with Ajay in the car after seeing a plot and came to my home, Hardeep told the police.
On December 5, I came to know that Ajay had died so I fled to my relatives in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
The IG said police are trying to find the tiffin and send it to Chandigarh for forensic test.
He said Jagmohan is under treatment and when he gets discharged from the hospital, he would be interrogated together with Hardeep.
Police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and other sections.
