Man held for duping youths on pretext of job

One person has been arrested for allegedly duping youths on the pretext of getting them jobs in railways and other departments, police spokesperson said today.

The accused S K Singh alias Sanjay Gautam, a resident of Yashodi nagar, was arrested late last night after Sumit, one of the victims nabbed and thrashed him, following which he was arrested, police said.

The accused had duped Sumit of Rs 14,80,000 and promised him a job in railways. He neither got him a job nor returned the money, they said.

Upon investigation, two diaries with over a dozen transactions were recovered from Singh's house, police said adding, the diaries had a list of people he duped from across the state including Lucknow, Banda, Hapur, Moradabad.
 

Police have registered a case against the accused, his wife Lakshmi and accomplice Ram Avtar and further investigation in the matter is on.
