A man was arrested for killing his mother following an altercation between them over food at Betai North Jitpur under Tehatta police station in Nadia on Sunday, police said.
Laxmi Roy (58), a widow, shared her residence with her only son Bijay. According to the police, Bijay, who is married, would not feed his ageing mother properly. On Sunday afternoon, the mother and son had an altercation over the issue, following which Bijay pushed her. Laxmi Roy fell down and sustained injuries.
Locals rushed her to the hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. Bijay was subsequently arrested by the police.
