Man held for loot

A man, allegedly involved in the

conspiracy of Rs 5.25 crore loot in south Delhi, was arrested here, police said today.

The arrested, identified as Arun Sharma, was apprehended from near Safdarjung airport yesterday, DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma said.

During interrogation, Arun told police that he was involved in the conspiracy of September 28, 2012 heist in Defence Colony in which he and his gang members waylaid the cash van of an ATM replenishing agency and looted the money. Around 10 people were arrested in this case.

"He told us that he had also participated in the conspiracy at the house of Deepak in Khirki Extention, Malviya Nagar. But on the day of incident, he had gone outside Delhi in order to arrange some weapons and the crime of bank heist was committed by other members of the gang.
 

"Later, he left Delhi to avoid police dragnet," Sharma said.

Arun, a part-time property dealer, is allegedly involved in at least criminal five cases.

A pistol and two motorcycles were recovered from him.
