A man has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a 28-year-old CISF woman constable, who was on duty at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in plainclothes.

The incident happened on the intervening night of June 27 and 28. The accused, Purushottam Lal Bagga, who is 45 and belongs to Punjab, was departing for New York through Kuwait Airways, police said.

He reached a help desk in the check-in area where he saw the woman. Initially, he started staring at her and then initiated a conversation. Later, he "misbehaved with the woman, shouted at her and even made lewd gestures", they said.

Much to his surprise, he found out that the woman was a constable posted in the intelligence wing of the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). She overpowered the accused and informed her seniors and the police.

Personnel of the intelligence wing of the CISF in plainclothes keep an eye on suspicious elements at sensitive areas like the airport and Delhi Metro stations.

Bagga, who was found to be drunk, was arrested under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman, punishable with a maximum term of one year or a fine, or both) of the IPC.
