A man was arrested in Nashik for allegedly creating a Facebook account of a fictitious woman and posting obscene and morphed photos on other people's profiles, police said today.

The accused, identified as Hrishikesh Pagare, was arrested yesterday, an officer said.

Pagare had requested a woman of his acquaintance to give him her Aadhaar card as he wanted to buy an internet data card. He bought the data card of a leading company in the woman's name, police said.

"Thereafter, Pagare created a Facebook account of a fictitious woman and downloaded pictures from the profile of one Rahul Birhade and morphed those photos. He then posted the morphed and obscene pictures of Birhade and his friends on their Facebook pages," Anil Pawar, in-charge of the newly-opened Cyber police station in Nashik, said today.

After it came to his notice, Birhade lodged a police complaint in this regard yesterday.

"During the investigation, police found that the photos had been posted from the internet data card obtained in a woman's name. When the police approached the woman, she told them that Pagare had bought the card using her Aadhaar card, following which he was arrested," Pawar said.

Further investigation into the case is on.
