A 53-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sending a letter to the Railway station manager here threatening that the Nellai Express would meet the same fate as a train which had derailed in Kanpur recently, police said today

Tirunelveli Junction Railway station Manager (in charge) Sivasankaranarayanan had complained to police after he received a registered post yesterday.

The letter reportedly stated that Nellai express bound for Tirunelveli would not arrive on December 24 as it would meet with an accident similar to the recent Kanpur Railway accident.

The man was traced and on being questioned admitted to sending the letter and that he was depressed as his relatives had destroyed some documents relating to his property, police said.

The Tirunelveli Junction Railway Police registered a case and the man was later remanded in judicial custody.
