Man held for smuggling gold worth Rs 29 lakh at IGIA

A man was today arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold, valued at about Rs 29 lakh, at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.

The accused was intercepted by customs officials on his arrival from Bangkok. He was allegedly found involved in smuggling of one kg gold, said Sanjay Mangal, Commissioner of Customs at the IGIA.

The value of the seized gold is assessed at Rs 28.75 lakh, he said, adding that the passenger has been arrested.
