Man held for smuggling gold worth Rs 64 lakh at IGIA

A man has been arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold valuing about Rs 64 lakh into the country.

The passenger was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival here from Dubai on Saturday.

On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, 59 silver-coloured plates made of gold concealed in the form of winding plates of motor of meat grinder were recovered, a press release issued today by the customs said.

The gold weighing 2.5 kgs is valued at Rs 64 lakh. The passenger has been arrested and the gold has been seized, it said.
