Man held for stealing and uploading 'Bahubali' video clips

A man was today arrested in connection with "stealing" and "uploading" of video clips of upcoming Tollywood film 'Bahubali'.

B V V L N Varma, ex-employee in Makuta Visual Effects (P) Ltd, who worked as IT manager in the company, which is doing visual effects for the movie 'Bahubali' was arrested, said DCP (Detective department) C Ravi Varma.

According to police, the accused had stolen the data from his company and circulated it to others committing breach of trust and cheating the company under Copy Right Act and IT Act 2008.

Y Shobu, producer of 'Bahubali' and director ARKA media (P) Ltd, lodged a complaint stating that he is producing the film in tie up with Makuta Visual Effects (P) Ltd for editing and for visual effects of the movie.
 

In the first week of January, he came to know that one of the former employees of Makuta had uploaded video clips of his upcoming movie 'Bahubali' (war clips) on social media sites and YouTube, police said based on the complaint.

B V V L N Varma, while working in the company had some dispute with the company hence he was terminated. As such the accused for taking revenge and to damage the reputation of the company had stolen the data (war clips of Bahubali) from his company and stored it in his laptop and circulated it to his relatives and friends.

He thus committing breach of trust and cheating, and other offences under Copy Right Act and IT Act 2008, thereby causing monetary loss to the production unit and to the company, police said.

Other accused are at large and probe is on.
