A man, allegedly involved in the murder of a senior executive of carmaker Maruti's Manesar plant in Gurgaon in July last year, has been arrested, police said today.

According to police, Pradeep Gurjar, against whom a case relating to the incident is pending in Manesar, was arrested from Kela godown in Shalimar Bagh area yesterday by the Crime Branch after it received a tip-off.

Gurjar, a resident of Kaithal in Haryana, was wanted in connection with the murder of General Manager (Human Resources) of Maruti Suzuki's Manesar Plant, police said.

The manager was charred to death in the violence triggered by the company's workers in July last year.

During interrogation, Gurjar told police that he was working in the Manesar plant as a welder for the last 5 years. On the day of the incident, he, along with other employees, had assembled at the gate at 3:30 pm and started shouting slogans against the management to protest the suspension of one Jiya Lal.

The mob turned violent and he, along with others, had damaged the properties and manhandled the management staff. They had also set the administrative office on fire in which the Manager was killed, police alleged.
