A man, who had assaulted an elderly couple at their residence in suburban Khar last month and decamped with their valuables worth Rs 3.82 lakh, has been arrested from Himachal Pradesh, police said today.

Accused Satnam Sachdev (38) was apprehended from Manali in Himachal Pradesh yesterday, police said.

According to police, Sachdev had been employed to take care of the couple at their residence 22 days prior to the attack.

Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sadanand Date said, the accused had attacked 82-year-old Hirachand Jain and his 79-year-old wife at their Khar residence on October 16, with a steel rod and decamped with the booty worth Rs 3.82 lakh, including gold ornaments, mobile phone and cash.
