Man held with 3-kg gold bars, jewellery at SVPIA

A man, carrying undeclared gold bars and biscuits weighing over 3-kg, besides jewellery, with a total value of Rs 1.33 crore, was arrested today by customs officials at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) here.

"Divyesh Gandhi, a resident of Tankara in Rajkot district, had arrived this morning from Dubai by Emirates flight AK-538, and was trying to pass through the green channel," a custom official said.

"Following suspicion, he was asked to go through the red channel. During the search gold bars and biscuits of 3.0832-kg were recovered from his possession, besides jewellery weighing over 500 grams, the total value of which is around Rs 1.33 crore," they said.
 

On May 14, a native of Rajkot carrying 1.28 kg of undeclared diamond-studded gold and platinum ornaments worth over Rs 78 lakh was arrested by the customs officials at the SVPIA here.

In the last few months, Customs officials here have seized over 7.68 kg's of gold.
