Man held with 800 grams of brown sugar in Jammu and Kashmir

Police today arrested a man in Uri sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and seized 800 grams of brown sugar from him.

Ahmad Teehkray was arrested from Jabla with the brown sugar which had been smuggled from Pakistan via the LoC, police said.

"A case under section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Teehkray and an investigation launched," a police spokesman said.

"In the last few months, police has apprehended number of such drug smugglers from the area and some of them have also been booked under the Public Safety Act," he said.

 

The spokesman said the police was determined to wipe out all gangs and modules smuggling drugs from Pakistan with active support of some elements from across the LoC.
