A man was arrested and 10 pistols were recovered from him after which the Delhi Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang engaged in procuring illegal arms from Madhya Pradesh and supplying them in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Sanju (22), a resident of Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the Special Cell on February 19. Ten semi-automatic sophisticated pistols of 7.65 MM have been recovered from his possession," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.

It was seen that illegal weapons used in various crimes in Delhi were manufactured and supplied from Barwani, Dhar and Khargone districts of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

"During investigation, on February 19, specific information was received that a consignment of illegal weapons will be supplied near Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. On this information, a trap was laid and around 08:50 PM, Sanju, holding a travelling bag was apprehended," said Yadav.

During interrogation, the involvement of one Virpal Singh, a resident of Khargone, MP, as manufacturer as well as main supplier of illegal arms and ammunition, has been ascertained.

"He manufactures and gets delivered illegal firearms to his contacts in Delhi and NCR through one Hambir of village Kareel, Hathras, UP.

"He supplies weapons to almost every part of the country. It was also revealed that Sanju has been working as a carrier for Hambir who is the main supplier of illegal arms to Delhi and NCR," said Yadav.
