Man hides gold bars in rectum, caught during Customs frisking

Four gold bars valued at about Rs 13 lakh were recovered by Customs officials from a passenger from Dubai, who had concealed them in his rectum.

Banned tobacco products were also recovered from his baggage.

The gold bars, totally weighing 450 grams and valued at about Rs 13 lakh was seized from the man who arrived here today by an Emirates flight from Dubai.

A press release by the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs said a search of the man revealed that he had concealed the four gold bars in his rectum.

A check of his baggage led to seizure of 100 pouches of "Original Blue Natural Americal Spirit," brand of tobacco and 2,000 pouches of banned gutkha.
 

In another seizure today, gold weighing 409 grams valued at about Rs 12 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived here from Bahrain.

He had concealed the gold in his trouser pockets and in his bagagge.

Similarly, 300 grams gold worth about Rs nine lakh was seized from a woman passenger who had arrived here from Kuala Lumpur on September 27, the press release said.
