A sessions court today awarded life imprisonment to a 46-year-old man and his parents for murdering a girl in 2009.
City Civil and Sessions Judge V M Nayak, while convicting Dipesh Thakkar, who ran a private tuitions in the city, also held his father Harivadan and mother Pushpa guilty for killing Bhumi Upadhyay.
The court imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Dipesh, of which Rs 75,000 would be given to the family of the victim.

According to the prosecution, on March 20, 2009, when she went to take classes there at around 11 am, Dipesh, who knew that she was getting engaged to someone else, killed her in a fit of rage.
"He poisoned her first and then strangled her with a rope. Then, with the help of his parents, he first put her body in a sack and next day they threw the dead body in the underground water tank," said public prosecutor of the case Arvind Pandya while talking to PTI today.
Court has rejected Dipesh's request to set off the time he has already spent in the jail since his arrest in March, 2009.
As the accused was also undergoing the sentence of five years' imprisonment in the case of attempted murder of another girl, he has been ordered to serve his sentence of life imprisonment in this case from today.
