A 25-year-old man suffered serious injuries in his legs in an apparent suicide bid when he jumped before a speeding train at Kashmere Gate Metro station here this afternoon, police said.
The incident took place at around 3:30 PM at platform number two of the metro station on the Yellow Line.
The man, identified as Pankaj Pal, is a resident of Uttam Nagar in West Delhi. CCTV footage showed he was roaming very close to the edge of the platform. As the metro train, which was going toward Jahangirpuri, approached, he jumped before it.

"Although the train's driver applied emergency brakes, Pal's lower part of the body came under the wheels. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. Although he has survived, both his legs have to be amputated," said a police official.
Pankaj works for a private company. His family told police that he was suffering from depression and was being treated for it.
Police said they have recovered some scribbled pages from his pocket which are not a suicide note but shows Pal was troubled with his life.
