A man, who had allegedly kidnapped a person and freed him only after getting a ransom of Rs three lakh, has been arrested, police said today.

According to the police, Rinku Rathore (23) a resident of Vishnu Garden, was nabbed from Cement Siding Road, Punjabi Bagh, here on Tuesday.

"Rathore was involved in kidnapping one Jaswant Chauhan who was freed only after he took Rs 3 lakh as ransom. His associates were arrested earlier but he had managed to escape by changing his hideouts regularly. But on a tip-off, a trap was laid and he was apprehended," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan.

During interrogation, Rinku allegedly said that in the year 2010, he had come in contact with one Rahul Gupta who was running an advertising company at Janak Puri. He started sitting in his office.

It was Rahul who told him about Jaswant Chauhan, who was very rich, and if they succeeded in kidnapping him, then they could obtain large sum of money as ransom from his family. He agreed to his plan as he was also needed money to start his own business, police said.
