Man jailed for 12 yrs for distributing anti-Shia pamphlets

An Anti-Terrorism Court in Pakistan court today sentenced an activist of a banned group to over 12 years imprisonment for distributing anti-Shia pamphlets in Punjab province.

The Anti-Terrorism Court in Bahawalpur district sentenced Abubakar Zarar, an activist of banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, to 12 years and four months imprisonment for distributing anti-Shia pamphlets in the district.

Zarar distributed the pamphlets to the local people in the area calling Shias "infidels" and also posted the same on walls.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 7,50,000 on him and if he failed to pay the amount, he will have to undergo an additional two-years imprisonment.
