A man, suffering from depression, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the sea from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) bridge early this morning, but the efforts of cops and fire brigade to trace him failed to yield any results, the police said.
Chances of his survival are bleak, the police said.
According to the Worli police, the person has been identified as 45-year-old Vikram Vasudev, who halted his car on the sea link at about 6 AM and suddenly jumped into the sea.

Quoting a security guard deployed at the BWSL, the police said that Vasudev halted his vehicle and stood near the boundary of the bridge.
The guard shouted at him, sensing that Vasudev might take the extreme step.
However, Vasudev did not pay heed to the guard and jumped into the sea.
In the last three weeks, this is the fourth suicide incident in which a victim jumped from the BWSL.
Eight suicides were reported on the sea link this year.
The police plans to co-ordinate with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to prevent suicides after such incidents.
