A man was trampled to death by an elephant in West Bengal's Alipurduar district today.
Police said the man, while having tea at a road side shop, tried to feed the elephant with buscuits when the pachyderm trampled him to death at Hasimara Choupati, police said.
The mahout of the elephant which failed to control the animal later took it away to the Baksa forest range where it is employed.
