A 70-year-old man was hacked to death allegedly by his son-in-law following a tiff in the district, police said today.

A murder case has been registered against Surjit Singh, son-in-law of deceased Bansi Lal, they said.

Banshi and Surjit entered into a verbal duel over phone on Thursday night. Later, Surjit entered Banshi's house after scaling the wall and allegedly killed him with a sickle in an inebriated condition.

The accused will be arrested soon, said a police officer.
