A man was allegedly killed by his wife and her paramour for opposing their illicit relationship, police said today.

The duo was arrested and sent to judicial custody in connection with the case they said.

Anita was in an illicit relationship with Shameem, who happened to be a friend of her husband, Baijnath. The duo hatched a conspiracy of killing Baijnath, who objected to their affair, along with Irfan, who is a cousin brother of Shameem, police said.

On the night of June 13, Shameem and Irfan visited Baijnath at his home in Ashok Vihar colony and killed him with the help of Anita. The body was then dumped in the jungles of Kharkari village, they said, adding that the victim's face was completely disfigured with a stone.

Anita also tried misleading the police, claiming that her husband was missing. The police interrogated the accused duo after Baijnath's father identified the body, before it was sent for post mortem.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on to nab the third accused, they said.
