Man killed, driver injured in road accident in Jammu

One person was killed and another seriously injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a 200-feet deep gorge in Jammu's Doda district today.

The accident took place in the afternoon at Panchi Nullah on Khellani-Goha road, police said.

The truck was on its way to Khellani from Goha when it met with an accident as the truck skidded off the road and fell into the deep gorge near Panchi Nullah in Doda, resulting into on the spot death of one person and serious injuries to the driver, they said.

"After getting information, police team from the nearby Khellani Police Post and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared one of them as brought dead," said Iftkhar Ahmed, DSP Headquarters Doda.
 

The body of the deceased Kamal Jeet Singh was handed over to his family members after post mortem, police said.

The injured has been identified as Prem Raj, a resident of Balgaran village, they added.
