A 35-year-old man was killed allegedly by his fellow gamblers for Rs 40 he had won in a game of cards in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, police said Tuesday.

Two persons were arrested after the body of Chama Sujue, who was probably beaten to death on September 17, was exhumed from a forest.

Police said Sujue was gambling with three others and won Rs 40 on that day.

His companions with whom he was playing cards at Bidyadhar Nagar under Kaptipada police station area were infuriated after losing their money.

They had demanded the money back and when Sujue refused, they beat him to death, police said adding that the body was then buried in the forest.

The decomposed body was exhumed and sent for post-mortem examination.

While two persons were arrested, the third accused was absconding.
