Man killed in firing during group clash in UP

A 32-year-old man was killed and another injured in firing when two groups clashed near Kotwali police station here, police said today.

Raju alias Rajiv (32), a contractual supervisor with Bareilly Nagar Nigam, had a brawl with one Sanjiv and his brother yesterday evening.

Soon after, the two sides, along with the supporters, clashed and barged into a marriage hall while preparations for a wedding was on, police said.

Shots were fired during the clash and Raju, who was hit by a bullet in his head, died on the spot while another youth was injured, police said.

Superintendent of Police (City) Samir Saurabh said an FIR has been registered by Raju's family against six persons.
 

He said Raju and Sanjiv had rivalry over gaining contract on Nagar Nigam work.
