After a heated argument with his wife, a man allegedly killed his six-year-old daughter, severely injured her elder sister and then jumped from the third floor balcony critically injuring himself at West Delhi's Khyala area today.

According to the police, Kanwal Dawar (42), a property dealer had a heated argument with his wife. After the argument, Kanwal picked up an iron road and allegedly beat his six-year-old daughter to death - suspectedly with a single blow, as the victim was not heard screaming.

Kanwal then went to the other room and allegedly attacked his 12-year-old daughter. After the first blow she started screaming, hearing which Kanwal's wife, Ripal (32), rushed to her rescue.

Kanwal then dropped the rod and jumped off the balcony. However, he did not land directly on the ground and got enmeshed into a bunch of wires. After struggling for a few minutes, he managed to free himself and landed over a car parked on the road, the police said.

Locals called up the police control room and both the children and Kanwal were rushed to a hospital, where the six-year-old girl was declared brought dead. Her elder sister and Kanwal were admitted and are reported to be in a critical condition, said the official.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC at the Khyala police station and investigation is underway, said a senior police official.

Kanwal is a property dealer in West Delhi. Preliminary investigation suggested that he was depressed over financial issues and had regular fights with his spouse, the official added.
